Jablonec nad Nisou is a picturesque town in northern Bohemia with a population of about 45,000. The town lies in the green valley of the Nisa River at an altitude of 500 m above sea level. It is amountain resort in the Jizera Mountains, and also a local centre for education, and is known for its glass and jewellery production.
Except jewelry and glass Jablonec is also strongly represented by engineering, woodworking and furniture industry. In Jablonec is also a mint for the Czech. Czech Mint was established after the breakup of Czechoslovakia.
Also worth of mentioning that there are many interesting places to visit and many houses with outstanding and unique architecture – most frequent are neo-renaissance, art nouveau and functionalist styles.
