Karviná is a city in Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic, on the Olza River. Karviná is one of the most important coal mining centers in the Czech Republic. Together with neighboring towns it forms industrial Ostrava-Karviná Coal Basin. it started in second half of the 18th century when black coal was founded. Discovery of coal led to rapid urban development in Karviná and surrounding villages, and railways were soon built. For decades belonged Karvina with others among the areas with a high concentration of coal mining and other industries in recent years has reinforced the importance of trade and tourism. For example Karvinské Darkov are world famous for treatment of musculoskeletal disorders.
