The Liberec District is situated on the north of the Czech Republic. Located on the Lusatian Neisse and surrounded by the Jizera Mountains and Ještěd-Kozákov Ridge, it is the fifth-largest city in the Czech Republic and has about 102 247 citizens.
The origin of the city name had been the subject of many discussions, often even nationally influenced, because it has been a bilingual settlement. From german name Reychinberch in 1352 to czech name Liberec (1845).
The Liberec District offers outstanding natural and cultural conditions for tourism. It can offers so much. From ZOO and bothanical garden, City Hall, F.X. Šalda theather to Ještěd Viewing Tower, Babylon Leisure Centre. Liberec is also known for his hockey team HC Bili tygri (White tygres).
