Rychnov nad Kněžnou is a town in the Hradec Králové Region of the Czech Republic. This is a small town, with a sprinkling of other small towns in the vicinity. The nearest big city (more than 100,000 inhabitants) is Hradec Králové which is about 32 km to the west. Madeleine Albright (former US Foreign Secretary) hailed from this part of the world.
The first written mention about Rychnov in the Charter of Ottokar II from 1 February 1258. Charter issued Ottokar II. as the Duke of Austria.
Thanks to the legacy Karel Polacek and other personalities history of the town is annually held several cultural events, the significance of which go beyond the city. Rychnov eight has a long tradition of amateurs competition and creators of video programs with international participation.
