Ústí nad Labem is situated in a mountainous district at the confluence of the Bílina and Elbe rivers, and, besides being an active river port, is an important railway junction. The name Usti is from old czech where usti means river-mouth. Whole name Usti nad Labe refers to river Bilina which is flowing into (NAD) Elbe river (LABE).
The city belongs to 40% of protected landscape area and because of location of the city nearby river Elbe (Labe), there are plenty of beautiful natural interests. One of the most known is natural monument Vrkoč. Vrkoč is dissected basalt vein. It forms into look of the hairs which are in braid. Another interests in Usti are waterfalls.
